Glue laminated timber (BSH)

This is an element built from parallel glued and planed boards or planks. The big advantage of this material is its flexibility in:

  • depth of girder
  • maximum payload
  • accelerated drying
  • availability

Attributes/Characteristics

  • parallel to the grain glued boards or planks
  • high static bending strength
  • variable in form, height, curvature
  • high durability
  • high resistance against fire
  • resistant against chemicals and variations in temperature

Field of application
In the constructive wooden industry, the glue laminated timber operates everywhere, where a high tension- and bending strength longitudinal is necessary.

40 mm lamellas thickness = from 4 : 4 cm ascending

32 mm lamellas thickness = from 2 : 2 cm ascending

from 3 lfm standart

S10 sorted or better DIN 4074-1 sorted boards or planks are used to reach an homogeneous construction.

Assumptions

  • central European spruce sorted by S10
  • gluing quality EN 3001/3002 – water- weathersresistant
  • for structural timber engineering (DIN 1052) - supporting structural timber components

Utilization classes

  • CLASS I: used in halls and heated rooms   
  • CLASS II: used outdoors, canopied  
  • CLASS III: outdoor weathering
